Open your mouth and it's not Big Brother but the International press that is watching you.
Anything you say or do can be used against you, so it better be politically correct. It seems that there are spies all over watching who will be the next tresspasser on the narrow road of moral righteousness.
Being politically correct and respecting cultural diversity up to this point risks negating one's own culture. As a result comments move to inner homogenous circles and borderlines are drawn by thoughts and omission. There are things you cannot say in front of the Other, one more reason not to associate.

Too true! We are all so connected and affected by our media.
With the world's massively increased connectivity and information, we truly need ever more patience, wisdom, and empathy. A butterfly flapping its wings in the Himalayas might not really be able to affect weather in North America as the saying would have it, but a drunk man swearing into a cellular phone on a street in Peru might be able to enrage an old woman in Kamchatka, if he dials the wrong number; and, without question, the bluster of nation states, or the meaty address of a mullah, or the raging static of corporate television news may affect us all.
